And... We're Back!!!

This past week Josh had a business conference in Las Vegas and so the girls and I decided to tag along, not forgetting of course to take grandpa and grandma along to help. I had NEVER been to Vegas and now after going I can say these 3 things.....

1.) Vegas has fun things to offer.... however, when you have a budget and children with you, your options become very limited. ( And there was no swimming due to the cold weather :( )

2.) In my opinion Vegas has a 2 day limit.

3.) If you do decide to take children to Vegas..... extra helping hands is an absolute must!

We did have some fun moments and I could not have asked for better behavior from my girls. Considering that Rebekah probably walked 10-15 miles this week and pretty much spent the entire week in a mall I have to say she was angelic. I also have to add that Grandpa probably carried her 90% of the time! Anna got the best seat... and believe me when my feet felt like they were about to fall off I was slightly envious of her getting pushed around in the stroller. On Tuesday we visited the aquarium in Mandalay Bay and that was a major highlight of our trip! Anna especially LOVED it! Speaking of Anna.... she was quite a hit with the Japanese tourists! I am not sure if it is her blond hair or her little "pebbles" pig tail on her head ,but, I probably could have made a couple bucks charging people to take pictures of her/ with her. I am not kidding people actually asked to take pictures with her! Josh and I got it on video! We were dieing! TOO FUNNY!

One of Rebekah's favorite part of the trip was the posh bathrooms we had in our rooms. She said : "This is like a princess bathroom!" She took a bath every day in the big spa tub and stated several times "we should get a bathroom like this at our house, mommy!" ( It was a great bathroom! I think if I had a bathroom like that at home I would never come out.) I think what Bekah enjoyed the most was having my parents' undivided attention for several days. I am sure mom and dad will be sleeping well this weekend as they have to be completely tuckered out! Both of my girls LOVE their grandparents and there is NO WAY I could have done this week without them, so... THANKS mom and dad! Another big hit for the girls was the HUGE FAO Shwartz store they have there. What a vast assortment of toys and goodies! They could have spent days there!

Although Josh was quite busy, he did get to have a little fun. On Tuesday night he and dad went to Monty Python's Spamalot! Yep..... hey, they thought it was funny. On one of the nights we went on a gondola ride in our hotel! I enjoyed the shopping; and along with my bargain shopper of a mom got a couple great deals on Christmas presents, and I might have come home with a sweater or two for myself ;)......... (ok.... and a pair of shoes) On Thursday my wonderful husband took me out to an INCREDIBLE Asian restaurant! One of the best meals I have EVER had... and... I loved the "spending- time- with- my- honey" part of the night as we really didn't see him much this week. So over all it was a great time. And now after a rainy drive home, we are glad to be back and although it was fun..... I'm thinking when Josh goes to this same conference next year... at this point...a post card will be all I need to see of Vegas. :) We'll see....

When meeting a crocodile face to face, wouldn't you be a little shy, too?

Anna loved the aquarium!

Deck the halls.....

Our usual family tradition is to decorate our house for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. So... tonight we put up our tree, stockings and a few other decorations. We had intended to put up the lights on the outside of the house also but time got away from us. That is a job for next weekend, I guess. There is something about bringing out all the ornaments and decorations that makes me so nostalgic. Each ornament holds a memory. Since Josh and I have been married we have tried to get an ornament on each of our trips, and we have started buying our girls at least one ornament a year in hopes to eventually give them quite a large collection to take into their own homes one day. Josh and I also have a couple of ornaments from our childhood. So,we are starting to have quite a treasure trove of old and recent memories in our ornament box.

Tonight I kept thinking about this same weekend last year. On the weekend after Thanksgiving, 2006, as I decorated my tree, I was VERY pregnant and I think the thought "will I ever have this baby!?" crossed my mind several times. And now... this year I am trying to keep a VERY active almost one year old out of the ornaments and away from the fire place. Where does time go? This year has flown by. I have heard people say.... "every year comes faster and faster." I am definitely finding that to be true. Rebekah loved putting up the ornaments and, even though I have to admit I wanted to replace every ornament she hung, I restrained the type A part of my personality and let her decorate however she felt lead. She kept asking "when are the presents coming?", "are the presents here yet?", "is it present time yet?", "you get presents on Christmas, right mommy!?" We are going to have to work on getting the real meaning of Christmas. This is the 1st time she has even mentioned presents. Every year up til now she has had no clue what comes on Christmas day. I was thinking after she asked me for the 50th time when we were getting presents..... "maybe we shouldn't decorate the tree until Christmas Eve next year." I don't know if I can handle what..... 30 more days of this. :) We tried explaining to her that we have quite a ways to go before any presents, and that Christmas is about Jesus and His birthday, and isn't it special that on JESUS' birthday we get a few presents. She looked a little blank...we'll work on that concept. Anna as usual is in to everything and getting out boxes of sparkly Christmas decor is just too much temptation for my little "tactile" child. She was elated when we got out the Little People nativity set which to my relief and excitement kept her busy for quite a while. We topped off the night with hot chocolate and some Christmas music..... it was a fun way to kick off the season. Let the merriment begin!:)

Just for fun.... I thought I would take you on a little trip down memory lane with me and show you a couple of pictures from last year as well as tonight. Just for a little perspective...

So here are last years photos...

There I am.... actually I think Josh got a good angle on the belly. I know for a fact it was much bigger than it looks in this picture. :)

Here is miss Rebekah at 2 years old (almost 3) drinking our staple "decorate the tree night beverage".... hot chocolate.

And here we are tonight...

.... with a new addition since last year.... and what a wonderful addition she is.

My girls "decorating" the tree. Anna was more "undecorating" than decorating :)

And there she is..... my sweet baby.

We had a wonderful and busy Thanksgiving day! We spent portions of our day with both sides of the family and it was nice to see everyone. I got so many great pictures it is hard to choose just a few to show you...

we give thanks...

Tonight at dinner we talked about the first thanksgiving and the importance of giving thanks to God for all that he has given. It is such a fun experience seeing Bekah begin to really understand things and just soak everything in. I am learning that this is such a special age. Every new piece of information and each new discovery is just so exciting! If only we could hold on to that excitement on into adulthood....

We have so much to be thankful for...

I thought it would be fun to ask Josh, Bekah and even Anna what they are thankful for and add it as part of this post...

Rebekah is thankful for.... (these are her exact words:) )

1.)Shoes
2.) Apple Juice and Orange Juice
3.) Birds
4.) Elephants
5.) My Toys
6.) Anna
(I am loving that she loves her sister..... we will see if she is just as "thankful" for her in about 3 or 4 years :)

Anna is thankful for...... (As interpreted by Mommy)
1.) My Blanket
2.) Bath time
3.) Grapes
4.) Mommy and Daddy :)

Josh is thankful for...... (This is all Josh)
1.) For all my girls.
2.) A job I like
3.) Being a part of a church family.

I am thankful for..... ( I could write endless pages just listing the things that I am grateful for. These are the things that first popped into my head)

1.) My Salvation.... My destiny is secure because God sent his son to pay the price...
2.) My family.... both immediate and extended.
3.) My friends.... God has given us wonderful people to laugh with, vacation with, cry with, share with and just enjoy life with.
4.) My home...

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving, is a day to remember God's faithfulness and blessings to us and our country. And as I think about all the things I have to be thankful for I am truly humbled. We have been blessed beyond measure.

I am adding some pictures of our evening activities.....

I have been promising Rebekah that we would do a craft involving paint for a couple days now. So tonight I finally got out the stuff and she painted a cross for her bedroom. She loves any chance to be creative!

CHEEEEEZZZZZZZ...... Tomorrow, you bring the turkey..... we've got the ham right here! ;)

And look what this little monkey mastered today! Nothing is "safe" with this child!

Yep.... she climbed up there all by herself. And then shows us.....

"Look mommy and daddy!!! NO HANDS!!!!"

She keeps us on our toes!

Baby Talent Showcase... & Other Moments in Our Day!

From the time Anna was able to use her hands everything she touches go straight for one place... She is the child that I must constantly watch because she will put absolutely ANYTHING inside her mouth. I cannot tell you the many random objects I have found her trying to eat! When she was a tiny baby she used to suck on her toes..... I haven't noticed her really doing it since she was probably about 6 months or so. Today, I had a funny moment when I walked into the living room and there she was, just sittin there with her big toe in her mouth. It was like she had forgotten it was there and was thinking ..... "Hey! There you are! I've been looking for you!" She has had her feet in her mouth all afternoon. So anyways I just thought I would show you one of our child's many "talents". In my opinion, it is just too cute!:)

Here she is...... Now the question is... CAN YOU DO THIS!?:)

This is when she realized I was taking a picture and Bekah and I were laughing!

Funny Girl

Another fun thing in our day was we got to go see the Hoff's, well some of them at least. Bekah loves seeing her cousins and today we got to visit them in their new house. It is gorgeous! I am so jealous of all the space :). Bekah could have stayed indefinitely. Why is it that the toys at other people's houses are always more exciting?

Anyways I only got 2 pictures and these are it.... I'm slackin on the picture taking.

Yummy Lunch...... Bekah and Sam.

Anna climbing the stairs. She is sooooooooo ACTIVE!!!!!!

Garage Sale

I am quite a fan of garage sales! I not only enjoy going to them but on occasion I enjoy hosting them. I love the treasure hunting aspect of them and some of my favorite possessions are things I have "discovered" on my garage sale expeditions! Today we went over (along with a car load of OUR junk) to our friend's the Lee's house to "help" them with their first garage sale!We love hanging out with the Lees and today was no exception. I have to say that even more so than makin a little money we had a marvelous time with our friends. Bekah adores being with Mikayla and Tyler and any opportunity to play with her friends makes her beyond happy! So while the mommies were makin the sales, the kids were playing, playing, playing and the daddies were..... well .........what were the daddies doing? ;) No...... I am just kidding... the daddies were watching the kiddos and did a great job at it! We had a great Saturday morning........
here are a few photos.....

This is such a "candid" picture! Riva being quite the ham :)

Me and my helper!

My Dear Friend..... She is a delight! :)

Bekah........ ummmmm...... when you force a three year old to wake up at 6:30 in the morning she is inclined to have a little bit of an attitude :)

Anna loved a little bench the Lees have at their house. She kept climbing up on it and backing up to it... She is getting to be such a big girl.

I've been tagged!

Ok..... so my friend Rachel tagged me. I am supposed to share 7 weird/ random things about myself and then tag a fellow blogger to do the same. So here it goes...

1.) I love Country music and I am a big fan of Dolly Parton.... ya, I know who would have thought. But, I am! I am determined to somehow make a family trip that at least stops at Dollywood.

2.) My favorite TV show of all time is the "Andy Griffith Show". I have the first 5 season's on DVD and they are often on like background music in my house. I'm tellin ya anytime you feel stressed or like the world is just a little too chaotic, take a little trip back to Mayberry and it will make everything seem a little better. :)

3.) One of my favorite things to do is to Scrap Book. I don't get to do it as often as I would like, but it is something I love getting lost in. It isn't always easy to get all my "stuff" out and scrap with the kids around and on me a lot of the time but when I get a set time to do it I find it extremely therapeutic.

4.) This is the "weird" one on the list: I am very picky about milk. I don't generally drink a lot of milk but when I do... I have certain standards. I think I had a few bad experiences with milk as a kid. I can't drink milk from just anywhere. I must know where it came from and anything but non-fat screams "gag" to me. I like ice in my milk and my milk must be extremely COLD!!!!!!! I can't stand colored cereals that make the milk any other color than white and drinking milk out of the bowl is a severe NO-NO for me. I guess you could call me a "milk snob".

5.) I love old movies. We don't have cable right now but when we did I think the #1 channel we watched (ok... I watched) was TCM (Turner Classic Movies). If you asked me my favorite movies I don't think one of them would have been made in the last 40 years. I love stars like John Wayne, Bette Davis, Jimmy Stewart, Judy Garland, Gary Cooper, June Allyson...... I love the "Golden Years" of Hollywood. I know I got this love from my mom. I love chilly days at home, something simmering in the crock pot, maybe a couple loads of laundry or a craft project to work on and a great old movie to sit down in front of . Ahhhhh...... good times ;)

6.) Ok so there is one more weird one..... I have a "thing" with crooked pictures or anything hanging on the wall and isn't straight.Anytime I am at a doctor's office or even sometimes at other people's houses and I see a picture that isn't hanging straight, it takes all I have within me not to level it out. I know it is crazy! But it is true. I am a big advocate for sticky putty on the back corners of frames. So for future notice, if one day I am at your house and you see me slightly straighten a picture frame, PLEASE do not take it personally...... I can't help myself! :)

7.) And for the last one.... this one you may already know... I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!!! I have been extremely blessed to have two beautiful girls that are my heart's delight and to have an amazing husband who astounds me daily by his strength of character and compassionate heart. I could not have asked for a better partner in life and father for my kids. He is my answer to prayer and my right arm. I stand in awe of these three amazing people that I get to share my life with. WOW!!!!!

Ok so now I get to tag someone else....... I am tagging Riva and Mary Dapelo! You're It!!!! :)

Knott's Berry Farm!

WHAT A WEEKEND! I feel like this is the first time I have sat still in the last 3 days. Why is it that we often need a weekend to get over the weekend? Today we went to Knott's Berry Farm with some of my family. Both Josh and I have not been there since high school.... so it has been over a decade now. Besides the addition of several large roller coasters not much has changed. Bekah had a great time in Camp Snoopy and even went on the big log ride. She had no clue there was a drop at the end and let's just say... she was NOT pleasantly surprised. Although, after she wiped her tears away she said she wanted to go again! Anna was quite the angel, but we found out she is NOT a fan of Snoopy! (At least the 6 foot tall one) She enjoyed the stage coach and loved any chance we gave her to get out of the stroller and "walk". I have to say we still prefer the "happiest place on earth" but it was fun to kind of have a change. Bekah had a great time and we really enjoyed just being with the fam! I think the girls will sleep well tonight as they were on hyper-drive all weekend!

Anna very happy in the begining of the day....

Walking! She always has her blanket close by....

On the Huff and Puff! Wow! That brought back childhood memories!

Alee and Bekah on the "little rollercoaster"! Bekah LOVED this one!
