Out with the old......

In my opinion one of the most therapeutic things you can do is................

THROW THINGS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the thought process behind the term... "Spring Cleaning" and with Spring time fast approaching I thought I would get a jump start. One of the projects I set before myself this week was to go through my closet and dresser and get rid of anything that I am not using. All in hopes that I would end up with more space..... you might call it...." room to breathe".I am always surprised by the amount of clutter I simply... store.  I have a simple guideline for letting go of things...... If I haven't used it in 6 months it is time to GO!!!!! I got rid of an entire LARGE trash bag of clothes and I let go of ,approximately, 15 pairs of shoes. :)DSC_4661

Well.... as I was purging my closet my girls saw a very opportune moment. And as the saying goes...... "when opportunity presents itself......"

YOU JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a revived desire for getting rid of the old right now....

I think that my motivation is in part due to the retreat  I went on this past weekend. It was a wonderful time.

Our focus topic was on "Women of Noble Character." We learned about and discussed amazing women of the Bible. A constant theme was the fact that God "is the same yesterday, today and forever." and if He worked on and through these women one at a time, He then works on each one of us, one at a time. I loved when the speaker said to "take the word of God personally." The weekend was a great time of fellowship, worship, learning, and release. It was a much needed weekend to do some "getting rid of the old." And making room for "THE NEW!"

What did my family do while I was away, you ask?

Well I have to say I am married to Super Man. He may be an engineer by day but when no one is looking he turns into a superhero....

Not only did I come home to a spotless house, free of laundry.... but he actually had time to set up a tent in the living room!!!!I don't think the girls had time to even think about missing mommy, as they were constantly entertained. Making waffles, camp outs in the living room and playing outside made for an all around fun time with daddy.

I leave you with a word of encouragement......

Experience the therapy of "getting rid of the old and bringing in the new!"

  1. How fun. I am so impressed that Josh had it all together so well. I haven't ever left the kids with Joe but maybe there is hope.:) Just jokin' but it sounds like you had a great time at your retreat. :)

  2. That's the Pareto Effect, or the 80:20 rule, we use 20% of our stuff 80% of the time, or 20% of the church people do 80% of the work, which means as soon as you get rid of 80% of your stuff, you'll be able to get rid of another 80% in no time. Unless you buy 120% more clothes then the ones you got rid of, then you'll be back to square one. Either way, Bekah loved jumping on 80% of your clothes!
