Our church had a wonderful family event today. The young families in our church were invited to come together for lunch and to make an Advent wreath. Josh and I both grew up with Advent being a important part of our Christmas traditions. We are excited for it to be a part of our girls memories and hope they cherish this as well as other traditions of the Christmas season. Advent is all about anticipating the birth of Christ and we hope we live our lives in complete anticipation for the coming of Jesus. Blessings to you all as we begin this “most wonderful time of the year.”

I am sorry but I just had to show you a picture of my culinary creation. This is a cheesecake I made from scratch for our Thanksgiving dessert and I was so proud of how it turned out I had to take a picture. I worked the better part of Wednesday on it and……… It just turned out so darn pretty. :) And it tasted pretty good too, if I do say so myself.
Thanks Barefoot Contessa for the inspiration!
We have so much to be thankful for…..
“That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.”
A wonderful day with family……
Smiles and silliness …….
Sharing of memories…….
“Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.”
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

“And look at the BIG “b0000g” mommy had to kill this morning. IT HAD HAIR!!! I don’t like bugs. Bekah thinks they are cool though” -Anna
“Hope you have a good day at work Daddy, I LOVE YOU!” – Anna :)

I went yesterday to have LASIK eye surgery. I went in with glasses and came home with these……..
Actually these are chocolate eyes my friend Kristine, who also got the surgery yesterday, left on my purse while I was getting prepped for surgery. :) It was so nice to have someone to go through all of this with. As far as the procedure, it could not have been easier. It was quick, painless and today I woke up seeing EVERYTHING without glasses!!!!! It truly is a miracle. What an amazing God we have! It is only through Him that we are able to have technology and Doctors that are able to do this.
After the surgery yesterday they gave me a “sleeping pill” and I came home, ate, and fell asleep for 5 hours, woke up, ate dinner (thanks Riva) and went back to sleep. I would go through the whole procedure again just to have forced sleep time. (Almost 20 hours.) My eyes are just a bit tender but over all I am seeing 100 times better!!! In fact now that I can see, I am noticing how much I need to scrub my kitchen floor. YUCK! :)
This is the eye shield I had to wear all day and all night yesterday. When I took it off this morning my girls wanted to try it on. I will admit they look much cuter in it than I did.
I am so excited to start life without the hassle of glasses. It is really like breathing in fresh air. Thank you Lord for my new eyes. :)
……… now for that kitchen floor.

Many of you know about the fires that have hit Southern California. While we are grateful to not be in any danger from the fires we are praying for several friends who have been evacuated from their homes and who are much closer to the blazes.
This morning our cars and house were covered with a dusting of ash. Before I left for church this morning I hosed off the car. ( Don’t ask me why….. I just did) I had nursery duty this morning (the girls stayed home with my sister due to colds). I was only gone for about an hour and a half. And in that short amount of time our cars were totally re-covered with ash once again. If it is this miserable here I can only imagine what our friends are experiencing as they are actually seeing flames in the areas surrounding their homes.
The hood of our Expedition after I got home from church.
The window seem of the Expedition.
I don’t know if this picture shows you the layer of smokey haze above our house but it is getting thicker and thicker. Those grey skies are not cloudy they are smokey. The sun shines through sometimes and it makes a weird orange glow.
So as a result of the terrible air quality…… we are doing a lot of this……
can you say movie day? We will be staying inside for today and probably a couple days to come. God give me patience and plenty of ideas as to how to entertain my kids.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are in the midst of the fire disaster. We pray for the firefighters who are working tirelessly to save homes, land and lives. And we are praying for change in the weather. Please Lord. Let there be rain and cooler temperatures.
I have been tagged by my dear friend Jenn at Of Marble and Mud. The rules are as follows:
1. Each player starts with eight random fact/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their name.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog.
So here goes:
1.Just like Jenn, I too consider green my favorite color. I am drawn to it in any shade.
2. I am definitely more of a morning person than a night person.
3. My new “thing” right now is making meals in bulk. I am finding it to be so freeing. Anytime I make a recipe of something I double or triple it and then freeze it.
4. I frequent the 99 cent store and am proud of the deals I often score.
5. When I was pregnant with my first daughter the smell or even the sight of ketchup would make me sick. I still have to pause for a second when using it now. (5 years later)
6. I’ve had 3 dogs in my lifetime…. all DASHUNDS.
7. I L-O-V-E road trips!
8. As I am writing my 8 facts, I am realizing how UNEXCITING my 8 facts are. :)
And now I get to tag someone else…… ok…. KATE…… you are it!

We took a little trip to Disneyland last night..... the girls were excited to go. :)
Can't you tell?
About the "deal" ..... yesterday I went to Old Navy. I had a $10 credit there and so I thought I would look around. (Get a little shopping fix.) I found these shirts under a sign that said 2 for $10! SCORE! I thought. When I went to check out however, the girl said.... "that will be $28.40(something)." Puzzled, I said..... "I must have read the sign wrong, I thought it said 2 for $10."
She promptly sent someone back to the rack to see if I was correct. When he came back he said "it is for the Henley Hooded T's with 3 buttons." I then counted the buttons on the shirt....1-2-3. He must have been the manager because he said ..... "yep they sure do, ok 2 for $10." :) YEAH!
I walked out of the store with two shirts for FREE! When does that happen? I felt like I was stealing. :) Well I don't know why I had to share that with you, but I just love bargains. I got my shopping fix and I didn't spend a penny. :)
So cute shirts and Disneyland make happy girls, and cute shirts and good deals make a happy mommy.
Hey All..... been a few days since I last updated my blog. I feel like all my posts have been about the same thing lately. But I think this is my last Halloween post for the year. :)
On the 31st we went to our church's Harvest Party. They really go all out every year and hundreds if not thousands of people come to play games, eat junk food, see magic shows, play in bounce houses, get faces painted and see the animals at the petting zoo. It really is quite a production.
The costumes for the evening were Snow White and Minnie. (My Minnie mouse took out her adorable pig tails with Minnie ears. :( Thus the unadorned hair..... I know, I know........gasp! )
Below Bekah as Snow White and Anna (a.k.a Minnie) with Grandpa waiting to play a game.
Anna clung tight to grandpa's finger.
The Harvest Party was followed up by a little Trick or Treating at some neighbors homes and then we called it a night.
