Christmas in October…..

The theme for adult fellowship’s class costume party was “ A moment in time.” So everyone came as a different historical figure or portrayed a different era of the past. I am always amazed by the creativity of our friends at this annual event. It was fun to see our friends all dressed up in everything from shining armor, cowboy hats, and moccasins to poodle skirts and 80’s prom dresses.

What did we go as, you ask?

Well, in thinking of a historical couple we could portray, my present “condition” really  only gave me one obvious option…..

so Christmas in October, it was…..

Don’t we look so biblical?

So here is the reality… Josh’s costume is 100% borrowed (thanks Joy and Nate). I am wearing a $2 table clothe from the Goodwill (and it only took me a bottle of  Febreze and several drier sheets to get it to not smell like a Goodwill) and a bed sheet around my head. Our girls are wearing pillow cases purchased from Walmart with a feather boa tacked on the bottom and wings that were also borrowed.

And about 15 minutes into the party this is what had become of our costumes….

The boas on the bottom of the angel costumes had come off, the halos were discarded, the wings only lasted about 5 minutes, my head piece was quickly shoved in my purse, my shroud was quick to follow and the safety pins were not even able to save us from falling apart.  Josh (or Joseph) was the winner in keeping his costume on the longest. My girls spent most of the night running around barefoot in unadorned pillowcases and eventually just ran around in tights and t-shirts……. So cute. ;) (sense the sarcasm?)

We, did indeed, have a fun time with friends and, tonight, the girls were asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillows.( Maybe we should let them run around the church gymnasium every night, bedtime might be a lot easier.) So while our costumes might have been only slightly successful, the night with friends was 100% enjoyable. :)

  1. I agree! We had a blast too! I did think you're costumes were very "thrifty" and I'm jealous you were able to come up with them as creatively as you were! I could never think that outside the box!
