Sweet sunrise….

My husband has been on a mission lately…. He has taken me on an incredible and humbling journey in honor of my upcoming 30th birthday. (I can’t wait to share the special and spectacular details of this last month, but feel it deserves a complete post of it’s own.)But today’s “surprise” has inspired me to express my glee NOW! So today was day #28 of “30 days of Emily”……. and here is how it went……..

I can think of nothing that I love more ,in this world, than being with my family!!!!! I would like to think of my family as close knit and my sweet Josh knows that my loved ones near is of great importance to me. Josh gave me the gift of a getaway with family for my birthday. So we are getting ready to go to a cabin in the mountains with my parents, sister, brother in law and aunt. I have known about this for a little over a month and  I couldn’t have thought of any better way to celebrate my birthday! But this morning Josh found the one and only way to make our celebration the best that it could be! I got a special delivery on my front door step this morning…..

My “baby brother” Nathan is living in Florida and is dearly missed here. We haven’t seen him in over 10 months. So when he arrived this morning my heart was pounding with excitement and I was absolutely delighted by the news that he was going with us to the mountains! It was the best surprise! Even more fun was… my parents were just as shocked as I was that he was here!(My husband had a team of secret worker bees who helped pull of the surprise.) So around 7:30 this morning I had a full house, full of smiles, a few tears, and lots of excitement. A sweet sunrise, indeed.

I am going to soak up the next two days with all that I can.

My heart is full! My cup runeth over!

Uncle Nate meets his nephew for the first time…..

The four guys I love most in this world!

They were fast friends…

We had a great day!

By 9:00 yesterday morning…. time outs had been had, disobedience was abundant, attitudes (mine included) stunk, selfishness flared, siblings bickered (often), breakfast had been wasted, mommy had yelled, baby cried, girls whined and messes had been made where clean floors were the night before. It was shaping up to be a FANTASTIC day!

So as I my son was screaming as if a morning nap might possibly kill him, and both girls were sitting (whining and crying) on time out and I was copying the days worksheets and preparing to start up lessons for the day with anger and frustration blazing within me…. I stopped!!! And declared………. DO OVER!!!!!!!!
I went into the girls room and said….. “do you want a second chance to start this day off right?” They both replied “yes” (through tears)……. and I said “ME TOO! Let’s go!”

We grabbed Micah who was screaming in his bed, grabbed the keys and diaper bag and got in the car. We went to the 99cent store and mommy drove through Starbucks (always helps), and as we were in the car we talked about how we didn’t get our week off to the best start, the roles we each played in that and how we need to make the decision to have happy hearts, thankful hearts and hearts of service. We prayed together. Went over our Bible verses, while driving….. and ended up having a pleasant shopping trip. When we got home, attitudes were changed! I had girls eager to help carry in bags and put things away, kind words were being spoken, acts of service were happening and even Micah went down easily for a nap. We scrapped our original plan for the day and did Fall crafts that I had planned for later in the week  and when I sat down at the end of the day I could say we had a great day! REALLY!

What a blessing to have the opportunity to choose to re-do and refocus.

Thank you Lord, for the chance to call “Do Over!” Thank you Lord, for 2nd,3rd, and 753rd chances. Thank you for granting us ,in the Nelson household, a clean slate yesterday and allowing us another day to grow closer together and to you.

lookin all kinds of GOOD!

We took these pictures back when we did these...

but didn’t want to “reveal” Micah’s baptism outfit before the invites went out. I know, I know…. you can think I am ridiculous.

But here is Mr. Micah looking all sweet and adorable (if I do say so myself) in his breezy white outfit. Smile

I was so proud of this shot above, as I think it was the only millisecond that Micah was not picking grass, eating grass or sucking on his toes!

now serving….

lots of ………………..

of course with plenty of ….

Say it’s not so…..

He is on the move folks!!!!!!

Micah is 7 months old (last Thursday) and all over the place, exploring and tasting our house!

Army crawling is his preferred method of getting around. He’s putting those arm muscles to work!

Just today he has found his way into the bathroom, his sisters’ room and the kitchen… oy!

Now begins the mommy obsession with sweeping, vacuuming, and keeping the floors clear. When the girls were crawling we didn’t have Polly Pockets, Legos, Barbie accessories and rock collections to worry about…… so many things for this little man to get into…….. eeekkkkk……..

Micah’s Baptism

We were joined by dear friends and family last night to celebrate the baptism of Micah Jay Nelson. What a special time together we had, in worship, in the word and in the presence of the Lord.

Micah: you have been claimed by Christ! You are a child of God.On September 17th you were surrounded by people who love and cherish you.Our prayer for you, our son, is that you would ,just like Micah 6:8 says,

know what the Lord requires of you…
“And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

we pray that you will grow into a mighty man of God!That you will know personally the God that washed you white as snow.

Your name means “Who is like God?”…. this means not that you are like God but

we praise the Lord for you Micah Jay Nelson! You are His!

Micah with his sponsors…. Aunt Donna and Uncle Philip

You are adored Micah….

Uncle Nathan and Aunt Joy  lead us in a sweet and tender time of worship.Uncle Nathan gave a powerful word for Micah, words we will remember and cherish.

Micah is usually a very relaxed baby, but he is quite demanding when it comes to one thing…… FOOD! When he is hungry, he is hungry….. and he let us know! BOY DID HE LET US KNOW! Actually in his 7 months here, I HAVE NEVER heard him cry like that! Sad smileThank you Nathan and everyone else for enduring Micah’s mini-tantrum. Don’t kids have the best timing!? Winking smile

But even with the screams…. It was such a blessed night. God is so faithful.

We praise Him for our heritage, our family, our blessings and most of all our salvation!

LORD:May our son grow to know you, love you and walk with you all the days of his life!

You are mighty God! You are MIGHTY!!!!!

And of course no event would be complete without a sugary ending…Winking smile

This is the scripture passage pastor/uncle Nathan chose for Micah….

But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD,
       I wait for God my Savior;
       my God will hear me.

She is growing up so quickly… :(

Anna was sitting on the grass…. green with envy. She cannot wait to be able to join sissy.
