We had some friends over for a special gathering inspired by a classic children’s book…
Each guest brought a different ingredient to add to the pot. And, yes, we did indeed include stones in our soup.
Little party favors for the moms.
The kids all got to chop, grate, pour and ,of course, drop a stone into the pot.
A little game of pin the hat on the turkey. Any one?
Everyone came with just one or two ingredients, but together we made a VERY big pot of soup.
Of course there was tasting involved. I think overall it earned good ratings.
(Notice the big ROCK in the middle. Garnish?)
“Many thanks for what you have taught us,” the peasants said to the soldiers. “We shall never go hungry, now that we know how to make soup from stones.”
“Oh, it’s all in knowing how,” said the soldiers, and off they went down the road.
“Such men don’t grow on every bush.”
