Waddle, Waddle at the zoo…

Micah is no hurry to take up walking as a regular thing. He would rather

a.) BE CARRIED! Surprise, surprise. Winking smile

b.) crawl and not waste the time it takes to “try and walk” somewhere. He’s no dummy.  I can see him thinking…“Crawling works! Why try something that doesn’t get me there as quickly?”

the little man…

I love…

… being a Mom!

Really.

I know it may sound a bit cheesy… but there are times where I stand back and view my life and …. I can truly say… “I am living MY dream.”

As a little girl I dreamed of being a mom one day. And without any hesitation I will tell you that there is no place I would rather be. The chance I have been given to be a mommy to our brood is my most humbling and joyous honor.

This mother’s day… we made a weekend of it. It is no secret that we love San Diego and one of our favorite spots is, of course, the zoo. So we rose early Saturday morning and headed San Diego way.

This was Micah’s first visit and since he is CRAZY for all things animal and furry we knew he would be thrilled. He was!

Micah Jay was sporting his Padres hat and a shirt that says “Jay’s Auto Body Shop.”

Our little baby… getting so big.

Finally starting to tottle. Still prefers crawling. Lil’ stinker. Winking smile

The girls had a great day!

Here is a play-by-play of Micah in the petting zoo.

“Look Mommy! I have a new friend!”

(He was so excited!)

Talking to Daddy about the goat.. as the goat licked his hands…

“WAIT! He’s starting to go!”

“I must catch him!”  ………………………….Thank goodness daddy was there with a quick save.

After our day at the zoo we checked in…

here...

We swam a little. Had dinner and cozied in for the night.

On Mother’s Day…

we had breakfast here…

YUMMO!!!

http://www.richardwalkers.com/

and it just happened to be free day at the children’s museum next door.

We checked out of our hotel.

Then we put our legs to use and walked over to

Seaport Village.

Then we had a bicycle taxi cart us (stroller and all)

to a familiar old spot…

Anthony's

for some clam chowder , shrimp cocktails and fish and chips.

Then we slowly made our way home along the coast.

My kind of mother’s day!

More Easter…

One word describes Emily (me) these past weeks…..”BLEK”…..

(if that is a real word.)

The glories of the first trimester, right? But at least there is reassurance that comes along with feeling a little green. (Or a lot green.)

This too shall pass….

(p.s. we heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time today. Nice and strong. I think that “thump, thump, thump” has to be one of my most favorite sounds in all the earth.)

…so I need to do a little catch up.

Here they are in their Easter best.

Rebekah asked… “Why do we get so dressed up for Easter?”

Do you know why?

WE ARE READYING OURSELVES FOR THE KING!

I love the tradition of getting dressed up for church. And really that is the thought behind it.

Just imagine if you were going to see a king, queen, president … you would get yourself slightly more spiffy than normal. And every Sunday when we head to church we are getting ready to be in the presence of our Lord.

THE KING OF KINGS!

Worthy of our BEST!

And on Easter we pull out the curling iron and a few extra frills. All to honor our LIVING LORD!

Princess press-on-nails were in the girls’ Easter baskets. Anna’s lasted 5 minutes, Bekah’s about an hour. It’s kind of hard to do  a lot with an inch of plastic on the end of each finger tip.

Picture time! Micah was in the mood to ham it up…. not exactly take a sweet picture with his sisters.

Micah is not a hat enthusiast…we tried to get him to wear the hat, at least for a picture…

it didn’t work.

1.) Daddy puts the hat on Micah.  2.) Quick shot… but the hat is not staying.    3.) “I don’t want to wear it!”  4.) “THAT’S WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE HAT!NO THANKS!”

We had rain and wet weather for the majority of the day but it did dry up enough for us to have, at least part of, my dad’s infamous egg hunt.

This year he hid over 100 eggs inside and outside.… (including a special egg for each of the adults to find. And believe me there was no shame in our eagerness to find “our” eggs. My egg was zipped into a decorative pillow.)Winking smile

Egg hunting is serious business in my family!

Hunting for eggs with nails… more difficult than one might think.
