sandy Saturday…

We got a sandbox for MICAH…. for Christmas. However, you would never know that this little 4 foot by 3 foot box of sand was intended for only our TWO year old… it has become community property. It’s pretty comical seeing our 8 year old, 5 year old and 2 year old all crammed in this little space.  They love it!  Many hours are spent making sand castles, playing “cooking”, pretending to be at the beach, digging, covering each other in sand….

So part of our Saturday was spent getting a little sandy…

Aren’t Saturdays the best?

pieces of the every day…

every day I wake up next to this little bed bug…

leahmommy

I love this blue-eyed baby…

leahblue

I think Leah is teething… she is a drooling machine and her hands are constantly in her mouth.

But still full of smiles.

This week we are watching this ol’ girl… my parents dog Dixie. She is used to much more quiet and less chaotic surroundings… and is CONSTANTLY looking up at me with a sad, pathetic face. Don’t worry Dixie, you just have to endure the craziness for a few more days.

Leah’s baby feet in her baby TOM’S … just so cute…

She is holding onto things and starting to grab for things now.

And she can get mad!

My son….

This is the poster picture for why playing in a rose bush isn’t exactly a great idea.

The funny thing is… he didn’t seem to mind the thorns. He wasn’t phased at all. “Oh well, just a couple thorns in the face… whatever.” Winking smile

A packed mini-van. Four car seats.  It’s how I roll.

Josh normally leaves before the kids wake up in the morning…. early. But there are the rare occasions where he stays around for a bit in the morning. It’s always nice to have him home for our morning routine… but it also makes for sad “good byes.”

Micah was pretty sad to see Daddy off to work.

And spent a little time gazing out the window, whimpering…. “daaaaaaaaaddddy” …. sniff, sniff….

So sad…

Cinderella…

Last weekend was one of those crazy weekends….

We were on the go from Friday night til Sunday night. Monday morning came all to quickly. Time flies when you are having fun, right? Anyways… a highlight of our weekend was when the girls and I went with Aunt Joy, Annika and Grammy Nelson to a performance of Cinderella the ballet. So fun! An outing fit for princesses. Thank you Susie (a.k.a Grammy) for such a special treat!

falling in love with crazy…

I’ll tell ya! This kid is a whole new ball game in the sport of parenting. He is C-R-A-Z-Y!!!! Most days I am just surviving trying to keep this child contained, safe and growing… while still trying to let him be who he is, be happy and well……. a little boy!

But I have to say we have checked off about EVERY box on that list… you know? …. the list entitled….

“THE THINGS WE WON’T DO WHEN WE ARE PARENTS” list…

that list we made before we were parents and then shortened it after the first child… and then condensed it even further after the second and then completely threw in the towel after this guy…

He has loads of energy, tons of will, strength, determination, attitude, roughness, busy-ness and has endless ideas running through his head….  he is smart, loving, passionate, eager, intense, quick, silly and slightly defiant. He loves to hug, he loves to run, he loves to wrestle, he loves to EAT, Daddy is his best friend… he is  into everything, can get out of anything and is the definition of “TERRIBLE TWOS”…. but he is my guy! And I’m head over heels CRAZY about him.

Bright Eyed…

She’s 5 months old today…

You are a wonderful blessing and answer to our hearts desire, Leah Joy.

Happy 5 months!

A new chapter…

Today Micah graduated from the “nursery” to the 2 year old Sunday school classroom. He has not been a fan of the nursery…. AT ALL!!!!! He actually has really changed our church experience in the last 2 years quite a bit because he would get so upset in the nursery. We would often (like every week) get paged and end up spending the service time consoling and being with Micah. In the last month or so we have had some progress and he has been able to calm down enough to stay in the nursery through one service although most of the time he is pushed around in a stroller by one of the workers and much like a ticking time bomb… he would burst into tears at the slightest thing. So we were a bit nervous knowing today would be “promotion Sunday” and weren’t sure how he would respond to a new class, teachers and surroundings … but my worry was all for not. HE DID AWESOME!!! He walked in to the room crying and as soon as he saw all the different toys and activities he stopped, pointed to the play kitchen area and one of his teachers took his hand and walked him through the room and that was it! He was good to go! WOW! I almost left feeling like something was a little wrong… I have gotten so used to a MAJOR melt-down every Sunday! His teachers said he did great! Sooo maybe we are turning a page on part of his baby stage and starting a new chapter! We will see!

And just cause I am one proud mama… here is Micah’s first ever Sunday school lesson coloring sheet!

Such an artist! Winking smile Don’t you think?

A great day for a break…

We had a long March… it seemed. Not because of any particular reason but it just seemed like a long month. In our year of homeschooling I don’t really schedule a “Spring Break” for us. We generally just take a day here, a day there for a family outing or little getaway. So last Thursday we decided to take the day off and make a day trip to the San Diego Zoo. We needed a little break. After a day of rain on Wednesday… Thursday ended up being a day for San Diego to show off it’s perfect seaside weather. It was a beautiful day!

Micah was in HEAVEN!!!! He was a non-stop wind up toy. I think with the exception of lunch and maybe 45 minutes in the stroller he RAN the entire day with daddy chasing after him. He was so excited to see every animal. “Yook, Yook!” he would say at everything.

The Children’s Zoo is always a hit. We generally have to save it for the end of the day because we would spend all day there otherwise.
