Going to tell....

"While shepherds kept their watching
Over silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens,
There shone a holy light:
Go, Tell It On The Mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere;
Go, Tell It On The Mountain
That Jesus Christ is born."

Jesus lives and was given for us.

Merry Christmas!

pieces of the everyday…

It has been a while since I have posted some pieces….

Well the everyday has been busy!  This is the most… wonderful… and for us… crazy time of year! Tis the season.

Several weeks ago we went with some homeschooling friends for a private tour of our FAVORITE restaurant!

Josh was even able to join us.

The girls took an Art class in November. They both left inspired and I think we went through a box of markers and crayons the week after. Their hands were busy and our “magnet wall” was full of masterpieces.

How is this for a mug shot? Micah came into the room and said… “I do my hairs, Mommy!” Just a little too much hair pomade, I think. Just a tad.

IMG_4875

Just a little extra spikey… for a few days… that stuff is hard to get out!

IMG_4873

Sometimes Mommy has to say “no”…. so disappointing….

IMG_4857

Boy! These kids are awesome!

Bath time and baby smiles… part of the sweet everyday.

Thank you Trader Joes…

IMG_4661

Part of my ridiculousness… why do I do things like this? I only get irritated that it doesn’t stay this way…silly.

IMG_4885

This little lady loves the swing! Smile

IMG_5071

And is a pretty big fan of peas.

our poor dog… puts up with so much Winking smile

Watching the tree cutters and eating hot dogs… serious entertainment!

The girls and I have attempted a few crafts lately…

A few pictures from getting ready for Leah’s party at our house…

Sprucing up the garden with a little color and height.

Cleaning windows seems kind of pointless in our house. My mom has very clean windows in her house. Well, after we leave… hand prints, nose prints, tongue prints… all left behind. My poor mom and her clean windows and surfaces. My solution to the problem… clean windows only when absolutely necessary. Winking smile

This is what my candied yams looked like post broiler on Thanksgiving. We salvaged it. Smile

The nephew and all his cuteness. My sister always dresses him like such a little man.

Micah is still learning the art of being gentle.  Here he is giving his cousin a “Hi!” (Kind of like a high five to the forehead.)

Anna has a thing for ice water with crushed ice and a spoon. Pretty much every night before bed she goes and gets herself a little cup. Here she is sharing with Leah.

This past weekend the girls and I got a chance for two “dates” you might say. On Friday we went to see our friend Camryn in the Nutcracker and we went out to dinner. It was a very fun evening. We got ourselves dressed up with necklaces and lipstick and had fun talking about Christmas and their different interests. My girls are so different and believe it or not, even with having them at home all the time with me… I still feel like moments like these are too few and far between. Oh how I love my little ladies.

IMG_5295

The next morning I took the two older girls to do a little Christmas shopping for their siblings and we made a little stop at the nail salon to get their toes painted for the holidays. I don’t think I have taken them to do this before so they were pretty speechless.  Especially miss Anna… she was thrilled.

Anna had a pretty short wish list for her birthday but the first thing on her list besides a “couch for dolls” (does that even exist?) was a guitar. Well, Grandpa and Grandma came through and got Anna her very own, junior sized guitar. She is convinced, already, that she knows how to play “Away in a Manger” and is ready at any moment to perform for anyone willing to listen.

Well those are all the pieces I have…. for now.

owls, tea, pink, frills… Anna’s 6th birthday!

On Monday we had just a few of Anna’s little friends over for a quaint, dainty and perfectly pink tea party. One of the perks of homeschooling is that we aren’t tied down to just having parties on the weekends. It ended up working out really well to have the party on a Monday (especially in December when, it seems like, every weekend (for everyone) is booked solid months in advance.) Anna was thrilled to be surrounded by her sweet friends… and was full of squeals and glee for days leading up to the event.

Another angle of the table and notice…Leah… not-so-much a fan of the hair accessory.

Hi, Mommy! I am ready for my first tea party! Smile

Micah woke up with a “bee in his bonnet” on Monday. He was dead set on it being HIS birthday and HIS party!!! How do I know? He kept saying… “MY PARTY! MY BIRFDAY!MOMMY!” (He’s not subtle.)  I was trying to get a picture of Anna and he kept standing next to her saying “Twake my pictwure MOMMY! Twake my pwicture!” Anna’s look is pretty typical of her. Can’t you just see the hint of annoyance in her expression? “Brothers…. hmph!”

This little doll has been taking a two year nap in my closet since they retired the Elizabeth doll in 2010. Well Monday was the day for Elizabeth the doll to meet Anna Elizabeth! I think Anna was pleased. Smile

What a beautiful little lady you are, our Anna. Six years old seems to be an impossible thought and yet it is reality. You are, indeed, 6! You are in Kindergarten! You are a little lady! You are a blessing!

I remember well holding you in my arms as we watched the Christmas lights on the boats and houses outside of our hospital window the day you were born… a very dear memory.

We love you, Anna. God has given you a sensitive spirit, a mind full of  deep and sincere thoughts and ponderings. You have the ability to observe and then discern and the Lord has ,most definitely, given you  a heart that delights in relationship and time with others.  Your squeals of excitement and love of laughter bring joy to our home.

Happy 6th birthday Anna Elizabeth.
