Utah or bust.
Packed up and ready to go!
We met the Hoffs and spent a night in Lake Las Vegas… and the next morning headed off and up…. up …up …up… the mountain.
Road trippin with this guy is pretty much one of my favorite things to do.
Out the window…
And here are a bunch of pictures of…. snow….
Leah in snow…
Us in snow…
Anna, unfortunately doesn’t do well with altitude and was hit pretty hard this trip. Everything within her wanted to not be sick and just play and be with her cousins. She kept making attempts to be a part of what everyone was doing but you can see on her face… she wasn’t feeling well…. at all.
This is the face a little girl who was trying so hard to “shake it off” but was feeling just soooooo very crummy!
Unfortunately Anna spent the majority of the trip doing this…
And as you can see…. this is what a little boy going out of his mind with cabin fever looks like…. poor little man. Kinda tough being a little kid in a big kid world.
We did entertain ourselves with the camera on my iphone…
that lasted… oh about …. 30 seconds…
Each morning that we were there.. Anna tried to make it out on the slopes… she was able to ski two runs down the mountain the second day but came down the second time and wasn’t feeling well enough to continue. I will say that she skied like a pro those two runs. No, REALLY, she is kind of a natural.
And here are a bunch of pictures that I got of the group on the slopes.… in no particular order….
Josh’s mom was hit pretty hard with altitude sickness as well. She and Anna both tried so hard to be a part of things. I think on this particular day we stayed out about an hour before heading back to the room.
Sporting his ski gear as well as an attitude.
This little girl below may have just found a passion. She LOVED skiing!!!! She was pretty independent out there and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little sad to know that she was so loving being unleashed ( at least a little). I do love seeing her delight in something and succeed at things she tries to do.
Josh’s brother Tim was an excellent coach! All the kids loved having him there helping them. He’s an excellent teacher.
Anna was able to do two quick times down the hill…. and able to muster up the strength to give mommy a couple of smiles for pictures.
I kinda love these boys…
Some of our clan… getting ready to get on the lift.
Rebekah and Sam. What a cute duo. Rebekah had such a blast with her cousins.
Joy and Christian
Nathan and Peter
There is our Bekah off on her own.
I would like to point out that prior to our trip when we had discussed Micah skiing Josh had made it sound like he would just let him “play around” and practice at the bottom of the slopes…. well…. that is my baby heading up on a chair lift.
And here he is coming down the hill! At least he was in safe hands.
And Leah was with me watching from the lodge.
This picture below was taken about 1 hour before…..
…. this one…. poor baby. She just couldn’t catch a break.
And so we headed back to the room for movies and cozy blankets.
The last full day we were there, Josh came back earlier from the slopes so that we could get Micah, Leah and Anna some much needed outdoor time.
I have so much respect for people who get their kids all bundled up on a daily basis….(not something I have to do in So Cal.) I had the help of Josh’s mom and we were both huffing and puffing (it seemed) by the time we were headed out the door.
All the effort is worth it when you get smiles like this…
Thankfully Susie felt better after the first day.
We made a snow man.
What should I do with this extra snowman nose?
Take a bite?
Oh how I love this little man.
I truly loved the fact that Bekah was with her cousins and loving skiing but it does seem weird when we aren’t all together. We are kinda used to that…. all being together.
Well our last night there… Josh woke me up and Anna was really not doing well. He thought it would be best to take Anna to the ER just to be safe. She was short of breath and continued to throw up. So we bundled up her and Leah and Josh’s parents came to stay with Bekah and Micah. Thankfully the Dr., after checking her over, determined that yes it was just altitude sickness and that getting back down the mountain along with lots of liquids was the solution. We determined since we would be leaving in a few hours anyways that we would head back to the hotel, try and sleep a little and pack up and leave with everyone else.
Doesn’t she look so worn out? She was.
The bright side of going to the ER (in the mountains) in the middle of the night was that we were able to see several deer. That brought a smile to Anna’s face and some bragging rights later when she told her siblings and cousins about them.
Time to leave.
Anna woke up with a little bit of pep. So… that was nice that she was feeling a bit better for the drive home.
Memories were definitely made. And any time with family is always cherished. Bekah and Josh had an amazing time skiing. Micah was thrilled to be with cousins and loved any chance he got to be in the snow. Sickness in the midst of things wasn’t fun but it adds to the stories for later and is all part of the adventure, I guess. And here’s to many more adventures!
